Ms Ewa Majdak-Paredes is a fully accredited and is on GMC specialist register for Plastic Surgery.
She practices as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon in both the NHS and private sector. She holds a substantive Consultant post at the NHS Lothian and works in St John's Hospital as well as Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.
She has private practice rights in Spire Murrayfield Hospital, Spire Shawfair Hospital, The Edinburgh Clinic, BMI Healthcare at King's Park Hospital in Stirling, La Belle Forme in Glasgow and Inverness.

In her NHS practice she regularly undertakes complex reconstructive and corrective surgery of the breast, body and face. In her private practice, she offers a wide range of plastic and cosmetic surgery.
Ms Majdak-Paredes has got dual-qualification as she obtained the Plastic Surgery Fellowship exam from the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and European Plastic Surgery board exam (EBOPRAS). She also obtained Cosmetic Surgery Certification by the Intercollegiate Cosmetic Surgery Oversight Committee.
She is a full member of British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (BAPRAS), American Association of Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and provisional member of British Association of Aesthetic Surgery (BAAPS).
Before taking up a Consultant post, she undertook advanced sub-specialty training in breast reconstruction in Chelmsford and Edinburgh Breast Unit. She consolidated her specialist aesthetic training with a prestigious aesthetic fellowship in Banff in Canada which was sponsored by BAAPS (travelling fellowship award).
Prior to doing the subspecialty training and fellowships, Ms Majdak-Paredes completed 7 years of higher specialist Plastic Surgery training working in well-known UK plastic surgery units including St Thomas Hospital and St George's Hospitals in London, Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, NHS Lothian and others.
She graduated from Medical University of Gdansk in Poland in 2000. As a medical student, she undertook 5 electives in the UK in London in surgery and plastic surgery in Kingston Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. She also participated in Erasmus Student Exchange program and did her final year in Antwerp in Belgium.
Ms Majdak-Paredes is one of the very few surgeons in the UK who undertook and completed 4-year PhD program. Her project concentrated on investigating genetic and epidemiological basis of breast and ovarian cancer syndromes affecting so many women. She was granted Marie Curie PhD Fellowship from Karolinska University in 2002 to complete her work in the Department of Human Genetics in Leiden University Medical Centre in the Netherlands where she spent 18 months. She started and finished her PhD at Medical University of Gdansk in Poland and was granted rector award for pioneering research.
After finishing her PhD in 2004, she pursued her specialty training in the UK securing basic surgical training program in Kent and obtaining Membership exam of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS) in 2006. She subsequently continued higher surgical training in Plastic Surgery via national training program in Scotland.
Ms Ewa Majdak-Paredes has been recognised nationally and internationally. She has been a faculty at various meetings and courses including advanced BAPRAS courses. She has been working closely with Faculty of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh as a Clinical Lecturer teaching medical students and acting as a professional mentor. She has always had strong interest in teaching and research. She has published extensively in peer-review journals and is an author of nearly 30 publications. She often gets invited to review articles submitted to peer-review journals.
She has got regular teaching and training roles in all aspects of plastic surgery including microsurgery and advanced breast reconstruction for registrars and fellows working in the NHS Lothian as well as national cosmetic surgery fellows. She often hosts regional Pan-Scotland teaching sessions for plastic surgery registrars. She takes part in pre-FRCS preparation courses as well.
Outside medicine, she has great passion for art including creating own paintings, drawings and textiles. She believes in the power of mindfulness and healthy lifestyle. Like many women, she is also a mother.
